Take that, Brendan Batchelor.
I was standing with the voice of the Vancouver Giants at practice on Tuesday, taking video of certain drills. With the camera rolling, I called for an Arvin Atwal goal in the shoot-out drill. Atwal is normally money in these drills. He has nifty, nifty moves in these situations.
He didn’t score. Batchelor said I didn’t have the, ahem, wherewithal, to run said video.
Beat it, Batch.
Speaking of Atwal, it will be interesting to see if he gets back in the line-up for Wednesday’s tilt against Moose Jaw. He’s been a healthy scratch for four straight games. That’s unusual for a 19-year-old, to say the least. No one is offering up anything about what’s going on, but Atwal has been sat out for “discipline,” issues in the past.
Meanwhile, here’s a couple of drills from Giants practice. We’ll start with a 3-on-3 down-low drill.
And here’s basically an expanded version of the same drill, with instructions included from coach Claude Noel.
